The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye has confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever saying a 20-year-old patient tested positive for the virus and has been moved to one of the isolation centres set up by the state government. Ipaye also said 66 persons who had contact with the victim have been put under observation as he called on residents to remain calm and assured them of adequate response surveillance in the case of another outbreak. The commissioner challenged residents to always maintain good environmental and personal hygiene to contain the spread of the fever.

Chairman of Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), Chief Rochas Okorocha, has asked Nigerians to wait till 2019 before passing judgment on the APC led administration. Okorocha said the country’s leaders were working hard on a daily basis and that Nigerians should be patient with the current government. The governor said this in his speech during the Federal Government and PGF parley on Policy Synergy in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. A young Zambian man identified as Mpanjilwa Mulwanda, who committed suicide by hanging himself on July 24, barely days after making a joke about it on Facebook. His death is currently trending on Zambia Social Media and according to multiple Facebook sources, during a chat with his friends on Friday, July 21, he made it known that he was going to take his life but they all laughed it off.
